PBS Dishes Up Spicy Hot Colors
Atlanta, Sept. 11—Spicy Hot Colors (August House,www.augusthouse.com) an award-winning picture book sprinkled with Spanish vocabulary, will be featured on “Between the Lions”, the PBS Kids literacy program on Monday, Sept. 24th.
Young viewers will see colors explode off the pages of Spicy Hot Colors as author Sherry Shahan's jazzy poetry introduces colors in English and Spanish. In a style brimming with rhythm and syncopation, Shahan introduces nine colors by interweaving images and dance steps. Computer-enhanced cut-paper illustrations by Ecuadorian artist Paula Barragán capture the rhythm and vivacity of the text.
“Between the Lions” is a highly acclaimed, award-winning PBS Kids television series designed to foster the literacy skills of children ages 4-7, while playfully demonstrating the joys of reading. “Between the Lions” is produced by WGBH Boston, Sirius Thinking, Ltd., and Mississippi Public Broadcasting.
