Teaching with Story Wins 2015 Anne Izard Award

National Storytelling Festival Features August House Authors

On Friday, October 2nd, thousands of people who share a love of stories will gather at historic Jonesboro, Tennessee to attend the 43rd Annual National Storytelling Festival. Jonesboro has become the informal epicenter for storytellers to meet, reconnect, and share their craft with fans and colleagues alike. 

The Little Moose Who Couldn't Go to Sleep Wins Storytelling World Award

August House is pleased to announce that The Little Moose Who Couldn’t Go to Sleep has received the prestigious 2015 Storytelling World Resource Award in the “Stories for Young Listeners” category. This announcement marks the tenth award that the creative team of Willy Claflin and illustrator James Stimson have received for their collaboration on Maynard Moose picture books.

Beloved Author Steve Sanfield Passes Away at Age of 77

Steve Sanfield, an award winning author, poet, folklorist and professional storyteller, as well as a long time resident of San Juan Ridge in Northern California, died at home on Wednesday, January 28 at the age of 77.

"You Have Diverse Stories" Contest Taps into Diverse Storytelling Tradition

This winter, August House will celebrate Multicultural Children’s Book Day (January 27th, 2015) with a two-week long video and audio contest, “You Have Diverse Stories,” to highlight the need for more diverse stories for children.

August House Inc. is pleased to announce that The Little Moose Who Couldn’t Go to Sleep, by Willy Claflin, has been named to the 2014 Kansas State Reading Circle. This month, The Little Moose Who Couldn’t Go to Sleep will be included in the Reading Circle’s 2014 list of best reading material for students at an intermediate reading level.
